High Voltage Switching System
A high voltage switching system automatically routes high
voltages to a large number of test points. Manual multi-point high voltage
testing, places the operator is at risk of coming into contact with the high
voltage because of extensive handling of the test leads and or probes. Use
of a high voltage switching system virtually eliminates operator
exposure to high voltage.
Once the test has begun, the voltage is automatically routed from one test point to another until the test is completed. Typical high voltage switching systems can be configured in a variety of ways for a large number of applications. The most common need is that of multiple point voltage withstand testing. This application requires two channels per test point. This way, any test point can be connected to either the high voltage output of the tester or to the return side of the tester depending on the routing of the high voltage switching system.
Besides high voltage switching systems, some switching systems
can be equipped with high current switching capability, so that the switching
system can be used to automate multiple point ground bond testing. Vitrek’s
948i high voltage switching system can handle voltages up
to 10KV and can hold up to 48 channels in a single unit. Many units can be
daisy chained for higher test point requirements.
